Psalms 22:3 tells us that The Lord
inhabits (dwells within) the praises of His people
The Following is a list of scriptures which gives us insight
and understanding into true biblical praise and worship

Why do we feel worship is a
"spiritual experience" between us and God? Yet a
time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship
God in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers that God
seeks. For God is spirit and those who worship Him must worship in
spirit and in truth. (John 4:23-24)
Why do we
clap our hands and shout to God? Oh Clap your
hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy and triumph.
(Psalm 47:1)After this I heard what sounded like a
mighty shout of a great multitude in heaven shouting: "Hallelujah!
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God." (Revelation
19:1)
Why do we lift our
hands? I will praise you as long as I live, and in
your name I will lift up my hands. (Psalms 63:4)Lift up
your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD. (Psalms
134:2)I want people everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer,
without anger or disputing. (I Timothy 2:8)
Why are musical
instruments a part of the worship service? Praise
Him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise God with the harp and lyre,
Praise Him with tambourine and dancing, praise God with the strings and
flute, Praise Him with the clash of cymbals, praise God with resounding
cymbals. (Psalms 150:3-5)
Why do we lift banners in the presence of the
Lord? We will shout for joy when you are victorious and
will lift up our banners in the name of our God. (Psalms 20:5)
Why do we sing in tongues
and in English? For if I pray in a tongue, my
spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will
pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with
my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind. (1 Corinthians
14:14-15)
Sing to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and
make music in your heart to the Lord. (Ephesians
5:18-19) |
