Church Leadership

Leadership within the local church sets the course for the entire church. Churches around the world are set up differently; however, we believe in a New Testament, “5-Fold” (see Ephesians 4:11-12) style of church leadership. We believe that leadership is for the mentoring and establishing believers in their walks with God, and equipping them for works of ministry.

As you read about the various teams below, make a note of what area you’d most like to grow in. ┬áThen contact one of our leadership team members, and he/she will gladly help mentor you and help you grow in your walk with God.

Our Apostolic Team

At NCCA, we recognize the Biblical, apostolic ministry. The Greek word for apostle is “apostolos”, which literally means, “one who is sent”. Both those who were sent here to start this work as well as those who are sent out from this place to start, establish, and/or equip other works, ministries, and other Kingdom business with the apostolic anointing. Our leadership team not only has apostles, but it also has those who are “apostolic” – those who are not necessarily apostles, but those who have an apostolic anointing on their lives. This team is comprised not only of our founding and senior leaders, Bishop Randy Morgan and Apostle Johnny Layton, but other leaders throughout the Covenant Network, which meet together regularly to discuss how to equip the church.

Randy was born-again and called into ministry at age 10 and filled with the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, at 14. He spent many years in the Church of God, Assembly of God and UPC. At 18, he found his spiritual home in an independent Charismatic, Word of Faith, and Apostolic-Prophetic church. He was mentored by a spiritual father who honored the movements that branched out of Pentecostal and Charismatic streams. Attending Christian Life School of Theology for 4 years was a major influence in his life with instructors and interactions with powerfully anointed leaders in the body of Christ.

Johnny Layton was raised Southern Baptist. He was born-again when he was 17. In his later 20’s he came into Pentecost and was baptized in the Holy Spirit. His passion is to see the people of God released in worship, their identities in Jesus Christ, and their giftings and callings.

Randy and Johnny were brought together by God in 1993 and have been happily married ever since.

Under a calling from Holy Spirit, Randy and Johnny moved from their home in Tifton, GA to Atlanta and started New Covenant Church of Atlanta on July 23, 2000. Their vision for NCCA is to be a place “where the spirit of God is being poured out upon all people” (Acts 2:17), to be a revival center where people are born-again, filled with the Holy Spirit, and equipped and released into their ministries and callings. Their vision for the Covenant Network is to see a network of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers as well as psalmists, intercessors, elders, deacons, etc. rise up to see a global outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon all people.
